REBNY has proposed housing plans that are a DISGRACE to New York City workers! We need to tell our elected officials to urge REBNY to agree to our demands.
By filling out the above form, you are sending a message to lawmakers, urging them to step in if developers don’t negotiate with us in good faith. If enough BCTCNY members do this, we will ensure the New York housing proposals have fair wages and labor standards for all!
Despite months of good faith negotiations by BCTCNY President Gary LaBarbera, who has worked tirelessly to create fair wage standards for New York affordable housing, REBNY has made no effort to ensure protections for the workers who will be employed on these projects.
Our Goals Are Simple:
To be paid a fair, livable wage and have adequate labor standards.
These housing projects are being built with tax breaks from New York State. Shouldn’t the people that live in New York be the ones to gain employment from these projects?
UNREALISTIC…? Give Us A Break.
Let’s face the facts, REBNY has no plans to work alongside us.
It’s clear that REBNY only wants to exploit workers and kill the middle class rather than lift them up. Recognizing the crucial need to ensure labor standards are put in place for the housing proposals, eight members of the NYC Building and Construction Trades Council have come together publicly denouncing REBNYs proposals and demanding they commit to labor standards AND fair wages on their proposals.
